Who is responsible for your data

Sunset home improvements is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and through phone or WhatsApp contact about our services.

What this site collects

You contact us by phone or WhatsApp. We do not ask you to create an account.

If you call or send a WhatsApp message, we receive the details you send, which may include:

  • your phone number (always, on a call or WhatsApp message)
  • your name, if you give it
  • the address of the property you want work on, if you give it
  • notes about the work (driveways, garage roofs, gates, cladding, artificial grass, decking)
  • photos you choose to send of the property

The server that hosts the site may keep standard technical logs for a short time (for example IP address, browser type and pages requested) so the site can be kept running and secure. Those logs are not used to profile you.

Cookies

This site uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work, if the hosting platform sets any. We do not set marketing or tracking cookies. The Google Maps embed on the contact section is provided by Google. Google may set its own cookies when the map loads. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle that data.

Why we use the information

We use contact details and job notes only to:

  • reply to your call or WhatsApp message
  • give a quote and arrange a visit
  • carry out the work and take payment
  • keep a simple record of the job while it is active

The legal basis under UK GDPR is our legitimate interests in running a garden and outdoor trade, and, where you ask us to quote or book, steps needed to enter into or perform a contract with you.

How long we keep it

We keep job and contact notes only as long as they are needed for the work, payment and any follow-up you asked for. After that they are deleted or reduced so they no longer identify you, unless we must keep a record for tax or legal reasons.

Server logs are kept only for a short operational period.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We may share it with:

  • the hosting company that stores this website, so the site can run
  • WhatsApp / Meta, if you choose to message us there (their terms apply to that chat)
  • our bank, if you pay by bank transfer (they see the payment details you send)
  • the police or a regulator, if the law requires it

Your information is processed in the United Kingdom. If a supplier stores data outside the UK, we will only use them where UK data protection law allows it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • see the personal data we hold about you
  • correct it if it is wrong
  • delete it, where the law allows
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • receive a copy in a portable format, where this applies
